What is a Virtual Domain?
A Virtual Domain means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com) without having to install expensive server hardware and software. With a Virtual Domain, you utilize our server's storage space, however you are still professionally represented via your own personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com). If you have not registered a domain name, we can do this for you.
Who is the InterNIC
The term "InterNIC" used to mean the service used to register .com .net and .org domain names. Now it is simply a management service and a registered service mark of the U.S. Department of Commerce. It is licensed to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which operates the web site. You can now register domain names through various companies, including ours. The registration of domain names is now governed primarily through ICANN.
I can't find your phone number, how can I call for information?
We do not maintain or staff a phone line for sales inquiries. Over the years, we've found that our online forms and use of email are the most efficient means for handling all questions. A thorough and informative reply can be made, the customer has something to refer to, a complete record of the transactions/correspondence is available, and we keep our costs down. Can I access my domain address with or without the "www"?
Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.your-name.com] or [http://your-name.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer.
Do you offer dial-up Internet access?
No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your web site and retrieve email addressed to your site. If you have questions concerning your current Internet access, and whether or not it will comply with BCSWebCo's web services, please contact us via e-mail.
Do you handle the domain registration process?
Yes. We can register a variety of domain name types. We can host any vaild domain name. For registration types that are not listed, you will need to register that domain name through a company that handles those domain name extensions and use our nameserver entries. Can I transfer existing domain name to your servers?
Yes, just be sure to specify that you are requesting a transfer and NOT a new domain when placing yourorder. We will provide you with a temporary IP address so you can mirror the site on our server. All email and web pages will still be accessed from your current site. To have the domain name associated (pointed) to the new site, the domain name record will need to reflect our nameserver entries. This process takes about 24-48 hours to complete. How long does it take before my domain name is active?
New domain name registrations are normally visible on the internet in 24-36 hours. For already registered domain names, it usually takes 24-48 hours for nameserver changes to go into effect. This is not unique to our hosting service, but rather how all world-wide registries operate.
How do I transfer files to my web site ?
Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP) or Telnet. If you need FTP, telnet, mail, or other Internet software, visit Shareware.com. Shareware.com is a source for the latest Internet applications with ratings and reviews to help you decide which application is best suited for your needs. We also offer links to various programs HERE An FTP tutorial is also available for beginner users who may not be familiar with FTP along with some tutors.
Will I have unlimited access to update my pages ?
You have unlimited access via FTP and Telnet 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.
Can I use my account for commercial purposes ?
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information available to the users of the Internet community and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.
How long does it take to set up a new account ?
New accounts are generally set up within 24 hours from the time we receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password, and FTP hostname and an IP address you can used to access your account (the IP address is used while waiting for your domain name to resolve to our servers). You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately.
Can I subdivide my space and resell it?
Yes, we do allow you to create subdirectories which you can use to offer friends or clients space as long as its within our policy guidlines. You can also request additional FTP accounts with limited access to a specific directory for a small additional charge.
Can I have additional domains pointing to the same main page as my main domain?
Yes, for a one time 35.00 setup fee for each additional domain we can mirror your main web pages and mail system. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your present business.
Are third level domains available (anyname.mydomain.com)?
Yes, We can give you a third level domain name such as yourname.BCSWebCo.com or if you have a existing domain with us anyname.yourdomain.com. The packages are the same as the one posted for normal domains, the advantage to these is internic registration is not needed. This means no internic registration fees.
